The Lunar Chronicles (WIP)

The Lunar Chronicles is my favorite book series! It consists of four books each based on a Grimm fairy tale, and is set in the future. Each book is named after their protagonist - Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter. There's also Fairest, the villan's backstory, and Stars Above, which is a collection of short stories related to the characters.
Luna
Luna is a monarchy on the moon. Formerly a colony run by a small group of earthern researchers, it became a republic after 60 years.
The first 'true lunar', or the first lunar with powers, was Cyprus Blackburn - a man who's DNA was damaged by exposure to cosmic rays, developing into the 'lunar gene', which allowed him to manipulate bioelectricity and control peoples thoughts and actions. He used this power to create a monarchy.
Another gene developed as well, a mutation resulting in the inability to affect people with or be affected by the lunar power. They called these people 'shells'. One shell managed to infiltrate the palace and kill the king and queen. When the daughter became queen she enacted a law stating that all shells were to be killed at birth.
